Katsina LGA Chairmen Commended

Local Government  Councils in Katsina State have commended for  demonstrating commitment towards executing viable projects to uplift the living standard of their people.
 The  commendation was made by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs  Prof. Badamasi Lawal Charanchi while on project monitoring on Wednesday.
The commissioner and his team were in Daura, Mai’adua and Sandamu LGCs in his continued Inspection tour to ascertaining the quality, and level of the ongoing projectsby the councils.
In Daura, the Commissioner and his team inspected a renovation of one block of two classrooms and Store at Madobi Nomadic Model Primary School.
The Chairman of the Local Council Alhaji Bala Musa Daura stated that the second phase of the project if approved, would include the total renovation of additional two blocks of two classrooms, where the Commissioner observed the non availability of furniture in the school and directed the Director Works of the Ministry to study the bill of content of the project to pave way for provision of seats for the classrooms.
Prof. Badamasi Charanchi also pledged to provide school uniforms for the pupils having seen them in personal dresses at school hours.
At Kwangolam in Mai’adua local government area, the completed general repairs of a 500KVA Transformer and a 520 Meters drainage were inspected.
The Inspection Team however inspected a N16M 10 Kilometer Latrite Filling and placing of electricity poles along Gwajo Gwajo to Unguwar Jibo, where a provision for construction of drainage to support the road was requested by the Council Chairman Alhaji Mamman Salisu Na Allahu.
Another project inspected in Mai’adua was the wall fencing of Divisional Police Force Office and observation made for the need of total renovation and rehabilitation of the building.
In Sandamu LGA, the Inspection Team led by the Commissioner, observed that the Local Council was executing 32 number of projects across the area.
The Inspection Team managed to inspected a complete 175 Metre long drainage at the cost of about N3M at Sha’iskawa Quarters in Sandamu Town.
An ongoing construction of a Vegetable Market and shops at at Dan Fako Village at the cost of N13.3M and N6.2M respectively were also inspected.
Chairman of the Local Council Alhaji Usman Nalado Matawallen Sandamu explained that all the ongoing projects were awarded to indigenous contractors, which according to him about 550 people of the area area currently benefiting from the contract.
Matawallen Sandamu also told the Commissioner that a Projects Implementation Committee had been established to oversee the nature and conduct of all the ongoing and future projects in a transparent manner.
Seventy two million naira was allocated to the Council, but N36M was initially provided untill when the projects reached  specific stages that need for the remaining amount.
In all the three LGAs so far visited, the Commissioner expressed gratitude for the commitment so far exhibited on the projects being executed by the Local Councils  but  observed some hitches here and there that need immediate attention.
