After talking tough on security challenges in Katsina State, and expressing determination to deal with it, Governor Dikko Radda has finally showed the will and capacity to address it, so that residents in Katsina State will sleep with their eyes closed.

Governor Dikko Umar Radda, even before he was declared winner of the March 18 governorship election in Katsina State, promised to go to any length to bring peace and prosperity to Katsina State. And that was why he begun running from one pillar to another soliciting for understanding and need to come to the aid of Katsina State residents.

He had several meetings with all the heads of security agencies in Nigeria. These include the leadership of the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Air Force, the Department. of State Security, the Nigeria Police Force, the National Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigeria Customs Service, the Immigration Service etc as well as some local and international Donor Agencies for funding assistance.

Governor Radda consulted widely with relevant stakeholders: the traditional institutions, religious leaders, community leaders as well as civil society organisations.
The interactions were mean to generate information on the driving force for terrorism and what attract terrorist to Katsina. It was also to find out why the menace continue to. escalate despite several strategies, diplomatic and undiplomatic.

After generating the information required to understand the concept of terrorism as per Katsina State and the study of previous strategies and efforts, and why they failed to yield positive results, Governor Dikko Radda resolved: No negotiation with terrorist in Katsina State.
He therefore continue to interface with the relevant critical stakeholders in the Nigerian security architecture and came up with concept of a community security outfit which his government named Community Security Watch to assist the conventional security agents, especially in the area of serveilence and self defence tactics.
The Community Security Watch were selected and were trained by the personnel of the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police.
On Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023 the trainees passed out. During the passing parade, the trained youth displayed a lot on enthusiasms, courage, will and capacity to undertake the jobs assigned to them.
Before the Tuesday event the Government of Katsina State has purchased operational vehicles that Armoured Personnel Carries, APCs, 70 Toyota Hillux trucks and 700 motorcycles

The launching of the security outfit: the passing out parade of the Community Security Watch Personnel and the distribution of the operational vehicles were witnessed by a former military head of state and two term president of Nigeria, Muhammad Buhari, the other six governors of the North West, ie Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Jigawa and Yobe state from the North East.
There were also prominent sons and daughters of Katsina that included its first civilian governor, Alhaji Sa’idu Barda who had some walking difficulties who made to be there.
