AFDB: Katsina seeks regional intervention in agriculture, renewable energy

Katsina State Government is seeking the intervention and support of African Development Bank, AFDB to help boost job creation and enhance the livelihoods of the people of Katsina State.

The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, sought for intervention when he  met with the Bank’s Director General, Mr Lamin Barrow at the Bank’s Country Office in Abuja on Thursday.

Dr Radda, in his statement, said, “We particularly need the Bank’s help to address the State’s infrastructure deficit, such as power.” He, further, said that renewable energy remains a critical infrastructure necessary for achieving increased economic growth in the state.

 The Governor also requested the Bank’s support for the development of key agricultural value chains, including cotton and agricultural extension services that would also create jobs for the youth.

He finally thanked the management of the bank for the audience and looked forward to a cordial relationship with the bank.

On his part, the Director General, Nigeria Country Office, African Development Bank Group, Mr Lamin Barrow expressed his gratitude for the visit and appreciated the Governor’s vision for transforming the fortunes of the state. He assured the Governor of the bank’s support in the mentioned sensitive economic sectors.

The governor was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Alh. Jabiru Tsauri; Principal Private Secretary, Alh. Abdullahi Turaji; Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kaula Ibrahim; and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Media, Isah Miqdad among others.
