The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Kaduna has condemned the attack and kidnap of some students of Day Secondary School Awan in Kaduna State.

The condemnation was contained in a statement issued by the chairperson of the NLC Kaduna State, Comrade Ayuba Magaji Suleiman.

The statement reads,

“It is with utmost sense of sympathy and comradeship that we condemn the attack and kidnapping of students of GSS Awon in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.

“These strategically coordinated and unrepelled attacks on not just citizens of the state but students have given room for worry and despair as to the safety of everyone; indeed, it is becoming increasingly evident that we are in a helpless situation.

“It is quite unfortunate that these wanton attacks have consistently been under-reported, thus, painting a half-truth picture of the ugly reality that now confronts some parts of the State.

“These vicious attacks and kidnapping of students speaks volume to the vulnerability of not just some communities but schools, and this must not be allowed to continue.

“As a State Council of the NLC, we are worried and concerned about the safety of not just the students but the security of all, and we are calling on the State Government and all security agencies to do the needful; these bandits who have continued to exercise lordship over some parts of the State must be flushed out.

“Government must be seen to play the sacrosanct role of protecting the lives and properties of all, as citizens of the state must not be allowed to continue to live in fear and uncertainty of their safety and wellbeing.

“We urge the State Government and security agencies to do the needful in ensuring the safe release of the kidnapped students.

“Assurances of the government must be seen to be backed up with reasonable actions; actions that will ensure the safety of all and the elimination of all forms of threats to the safety of the larger society. “
