About 22,000 Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs were recorded in Kaduna State in 2022, the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) has said.
This was disclosed by KADSEMA Executive Secretary, Muhammad Mu’azu Mukkadas, at an event organised by the agency in collaboration with Christian Aid and Cooperazione Internationale (COOPI).
He said the IDPs were hosted across five LGAs of the state, noting that succour was provided to them to ameliorate their suffering by the agency.
He also said out of about 603 person’s that lost their lives due to floods nationwide, only two died in Kaduna State.
He explained further that UNICEF provided support to about 5,000 households in which N35,000 was given per household to help them relocate from flood prone areas to safety areas.
