Plateau speaker loses te-eletion

The Plateau State House of Assembly, speaker Hon. Yakubu Sanda lost his re-election to the state legislature. He contested under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The lawmaker lost his re-election to Mrs. Happiness Matthew Akawu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in yesterday’s elections for the Pengana State Constituency seat.

According to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate polled 9,926 votes to claim victory over the Speaker who scored 7,936 votes. Other parties who scored votes in the poll are the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) with 6,721 votes, and the Labour Party scored 1,028 votes.
