“This is a memorable event in the history of community policing of Kano State as it sets a roadmap for all and sundry to appreciate and see the issue of security as everybody’s business.
“Words are not enough for us to express our gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, for making practical community policing a reality and a successful project in the Country.
“I appreciate the effort of his Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, OFR (Khadimul-Islam) for prioritizing the issues of security and spearheading the evolution of community-based policing to the grassroots in the State.
“The peaceful atmosphere we are enjoying in Kano State today is a result of his Excellency’s dogged efforts as the Chief Security Officer.
“I also thank the good people of the State, including members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and our Community Policing Stakeholders for their prayers, support, understanding, encouragement and cooperation.
“It is worth noting that, Community Policing is a collaboration between the Police and the community to identify and solve community problems. It is also a panacea to the upsurge in crime rate.
“Our policing strategy revolved around community-led policing, and therefore, we must commend Distinguished Senator Barau I. Jibrin, the Senator representing Kano North Senatorial District and Hon. Mustafa Bala Dawaki, Member Representing Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency for this gesture. No doubt, the Patrol Motor Vehicles come in a time of need as the 2023 General Election is fast approaching.
“The Nigeria Police Force has made giant strides in the provision of Operational Vehicles and equipment; however, we hope those with wherewithal will continue to contribute their quota in Nation building by supporting the Police to ensure a safer and more secure environment.
“We also solicit the assistance of Traditional Rulers, Youths and stakeholders in giving out the necessary information that will aid the Police in carrying out its Constitutional responsibilities of ensuring a crime-free society.
“The Motor Vehicles donated will be distributed to all the Divisions in Kano North Senatorial District and Dawakin Kudu and Warawa Federal Constituency. The Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) are directed to ensure the effective use of the Patrol Vehicles to provide security and safety within their jurisdictions.
“These Divisions are now in a better position to intensify Community Policing engagements, respond rapidly to distress calls, incorporate visibility and intelligence-led policing, sustain Operation Restore Peace that has been yielding positive results and continue to synergize with sister security agencies in fighting all forms of crime and criminality.
“I want to use this medium to inform the good people of Kano State that the Kano State Police Command has set all machinery in place to ensure a free, fair, credible, transparent and successful election. However, State security outfits like Vigilante, KAROTA and other voluntary security outfits should stay away from polling units.
“Finally, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, we wish to express our esteemed gratitude to Distinguished Senator Barau I. Jibrin, CON, the Senator Representing Kano North Senatorial District for this wonderful gesture.
“We assure you that, this will motivate us to continue to serve the good people of Kano State as we pledge to protect the lives and properties of the citizens.
“We want to use this medium to call on the good people of Kano State and other corporate organizations to emulate the good gesture of the Distinguished National Assembly members.”
