From Lawal Gwanda: The attention of the Katsina State Police Command has been drawn, to what it termed as mischievous publication and doctored videos alleging that President Muhammadu Buhari was booed and/or stoned when he was commissioning Kofar Kaura underpass bridge in the state capital on Thursday.
The Command said the president commissioned all the projects executed by Governor Aminu Masari amid jubilation and warm reception by mammoth crowd known with the people of the state as home of heritage and hospitality.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah in a statement he issued explained that after the president commissioned the Kofar Kaura underpass and other two projects, an information was received by the Police that some social miscreants known as Kauraye from notorious Sabuwar Unguwa, were fighting at the Kofar Kaura area and took advantage of the crowd to steal phones and other valuables from innocent persons.
According to Isah, some mischievous persons had used small children in causing apprehension in the area by throwing stones at the police patrol teams deployed to arrest the miscreants in the area.
He maintained that the Command has so far arrested eight (8) suspected persons in connection with the offence and are assisting the police in their investigation.
He noted that, the Command is urging members of the general public to disregard the publications/videos as false, doctored and misleading.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Shehu Umar enjoins both conventional and social media practitioners to be honest and factual in their reportage and not to resort to misleading information capable of causing apprehension in the state.
