A new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University has been appointed by the Katsina State Government, owner of the university. The new pro chancellor is Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari, a former Deputy Governor of Katsina State.
In n a statement signed by Abubakar Muhammad Bello, Director of Administration and Supplies in the Department of Higher Education and made available to newsmen in Katsina on Thursday stated that Governor Aminu Bello Masari approved the appointment for a single term of five years.
The statement added that the appointee is an astute academician cum politician with an outstanding record of performance and achievements.
“He has also played a significant role towards the establishment and take off of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University while serving as the Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice of the state”.
“He has vast experience in the university system in Nigeria, as a former lecturer, head of the department and Dean Faculty of Law, Bayero University, Kano”, the statement added.
Dr Bashir Ruwangodiya, the Special Adviser Higher Education department congratulated the appointee and urged the university community and the general public to accord him the necessary cooperation and support to succeed in his assignment
