It has been pomp and pageantry as Katsina APC Gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda campaign tours Daura Senatorial District.
The candidate campaign train had defied the prevailing harmatan season to traverse every electoral ward, a reminisce of what happened in 1999 electioneering.
Despite the cold and dry weather multitudes of people trooped out to welcome the candidate and his team in all the local government areas visited so far.
The tour of each of the local government areas was marked with a grand rally at the headquarters which was being attended by political bigwigs from across length and breadth of the state.
Dr. Radda’s entourage include the APC Deputy Gubernatorial candidate, Hon Faruk Jobe, the campaign council led by the Director General, Arc. Ahmad Musa Dangiwa, members of the state executive council, state and federal legislators, local government chairmen, candidate of various positions and party faithful among others.
A major highlight of the tour was the decamping of about 11,350 People’s Democratic Party, PDP, members to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Mashi Local Government Area home to Katsina State PDP Chairman, Salisu Yusuf Majigiri.
The decampees under the leadership of Abu Dabo Mashi were received by Katsina State APC Chairman, Alhaji Sani JB Daura.
In Daura, where he visited President Muhammadu Buhari, Dr. Radda told his host that he is touring every ward to get first hand information of situation on ground with a view to prioritise his programmes if elected as governor.
In all the places visited the APC candidate reiterates his commitment to deal fairly with every segment of the state, assuring also that he will not shortchanged nor allow the people to be shortchanged.
Dr. Radda further reels out his marshal plan which according to him would bring rapid development for the state. His priorities include, improvement in the area of security, education, healthcare, agriculture, the economy and jobs creation as well as welfare for women and youths.
Observers noted that the campaign is being conducted in serene atmosphere devoid of thuggery which usually characterizes such events.
Pundits following the campaign posit that the die is now cast between the APC and other parties battling for the control of the state.
They however argued that from what is being witnessed since flaged off of the APC campaign at Faskari, other parties have herculean task ahead.
It could be recalled while speaking at a fundraising dinner event in Abuja early this month, the APC vice presidential candidate, Alhaji Shettima Kashim had likened the contest between the APC and other parties’s candidates in Katsina as that of light and darkness.
As at this Wednesday, the candidate and his entourage have visited eight out of the twelve local government areas in the zone. These are; Baure, Zango, Maiduwa, Sandamu, Daura, Mashi, Dutsi and Mani.
The remaining four local governments to be visited include; Bindawa, Ingawa, Kusada and Kankia.
The tour will rest for ten days to resume with Katsina Senatorial District on Monday 26th December, 2022 which will begin with Kaita local government area.
