The Former Chief of Army Staff His Excellency Ambassador (Lt Gen Rtd) Tukur Yusufu Buratai CFR Garkuwan Keffi, was on Monday honored as President and Commander In- Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari and Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya to declare Open the Annual Chief of Army Staff Conference organized by the Nigeria Army in Sokoto, Monday.
The three-day conference is expected to deliberate extensively on the current security challenges facing the Country.
Gen Buratai was conferred with Special Recognition Award for his dedication, selfless and excellent service rendered when he was in active service during the conference. The award was presented to him by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The former Chief of Army Staff achievements are overwhelming where he had the loudest and longest ovation among the awardees.
Also in attendance were His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Saad Abubakar III CFR, Governor of Sokoto State Rt Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the Ministers of Defense Gen. Salihi Magashi, and Police Affairs, Alh. Muhammadu Maigari Dangyadi Katukan Sokoto as well as the IGP Usman Baba Alkali.
The conference is being conducted at the International Conference Centre, Kasarawa Village of Wamakko local government Area of Sokoto state.
