Katsina State Government has expended over N500M in the reconstruction and renovation of former Katsina Teachers College, KTC now Katsina College during the first tenure of Masari administration.
The Commissioner of Education, Associate Professor Badamasi Lawal Charanchi disclosed this at the Annual General Meeting of Class of 1979 KTC Old Boys Association held at the premise of the College in Katsina.
The Commissioner, who is also a member of the Association explained that the College was the first to be considered by Masari administration for the project in the state.
While urging members to embrace one another and the College, Prof Badamasi Lawal maintained that with the blessing of the Association, the state government deemed it fit to consider the importance of the College.
On his part, the Chairman of the Association Alhaji Yusuf Ali Kankara showcased some of the achievements so far recorded by the Association which include construction of one block of two classrooms,.engineered the construction of over 5,000 seats by UBEC, provision of drugs and repairs of over 2000 classroom seats among others.
Alh. Yusuf Ali claimed that the Class of 1979 KTC Old Boys Association has shown uniqueness by gingering other old boys Association’s of the College to be steadfast in contributing positively towards the development of the College.
Another pillar of the Association, Alhaji Bello El-hussain Kagara explained that currently the Association is making a move for the establishment of a National body that would encompass all old boys associations of the College under one umbrella.
In a remark, the Patron of the Association Malam Haruna Dalhatu Sarkin Zangon Katsina commended the gesture of Governor Aminu Bello Masari for appointing Professor Badamasi Lawal Charanchi who is a member of the Association as one of his cabinet members. He maintained that Badamasi Lawal is contributing a lot in the educational transformation agenda of Masari administration.
