The former Minister of Information and the Zamfara Central senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Ikira Aliyu Bilbis, and others in Zamfara State have been reportedly arrested by security operatives in Gusau, Zamfara State capital.  The arrest was made Tuesday morning.

The arrest was confirmed by the state secretary of the PDP, Alhaji Muhammad Abdullahi Zangina, who alleged that it may not be unconnected with an allegation by the ruling party, the APC, of vandalizing its billboards and other properties during the reception rally in honour of Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare.
According to him, a team of PDP lawyers have since been at the police headquarters in Gusau to know the level of the case and action to be taken

There are indications that as the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC and the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP are politically and physically attacking each other, the polity is getting overheated and threatened.

Recall that in October there was a serious altercations when the PDP held a welcome rally for Dauda Lawal Dare, the controversial gubernatorial candidate of the party. The PDP alleged that the attack was deliberate and described it as the height of lawlessness, brigandage, and provocation capable of heightening the tension in the state.

A statement issued by the Dauda Lawal Media Centre in Gusau stressed that the PDP candidate and his entourage were attacked by armed to-the-teeth thugs while entering the Zamfara state capital.

The statement read in parts: “We are in a critical time. Unfortunately, we found ourselves in this mess. We thought thuggery and hooliganism had become a thing of the past in the state, but it has been resurrected by the APC and state government.
