As the match to 2023 elections gather momentum, there are indications that the Nigerian Christians are changing their focus and outright condemnation of the muslim- Muslim outing of the APC for the forthcoming presidential elections.
This is as group of Christian Clerics from the 19 Northern States converged on Kaduna where they declared support for the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Ticket in the forthcoming 2023 Election. The group, mostly youths, stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ticket will reset Nigeria for progress and unity.
The youths who deliver a letter to Senator Kashim Shettima, the APC Vice-presidential Candidate on their expectations from Tinubu’s government, stated categorically the church is not against the ruling APC. One of the Leaders of the group, Bishop Monday Yaknat, while presenting the letter to Shettima through the Director-General of 19 Northern States Movement for Kashim Shettima, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu said, “As Ministers of the gospel, we are fathers, we belong to everybody. If APC comes to us, we pray with them. If any other party comes to us, we pray with them.
Responding to the turnout of the Clerics, Aliyu said initially the group was bent on delivering 16million votes for APC in the presidential elections but with the overwhelming support from Christian Clerics, he vowed to deliver nothing less than 20million votes.
“I am excited about the love Christians have for Tinubu/Shettima. We promised that we are going to deliver 16million votes across 19 Northern States, with the support of Christians from 19 Northern States, because of the key role, we are now going to give Tinubu 20m votes across 19 Northern States”
