Three personnel of KASTLEA were remanded by a Kaduna State Magistrate Court 9 sitting at Chediya, GRA Zaria over alleged assault of a married woman in the presence of her husband.
They would be remanded until Oct 18, 2022 for the continuation of hearing.
Barrister Aminu Yahaya and Sumayya Aminu filled a case against Nasiru DTO, Abubakar S, Dorcas Nana and 10 persons unknown, all personnel of KASTLEA for attempting to assault his wife, Sumayya Aminu.
The accused were charged under section 175 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Kaduna State, 2017.
Magistrate Rabi Hashim who presided, said one of the charges is not a bailable one because it is a criminal offence and will not grant them bail.
Speaking to journalists after the court sitting, the Lead Counsel to the complaints, Dr. Hassan Bala who is the Chairman Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Zaria Branch said, the KASTLEA personnel assaulted one of their members family on September 19, 2022.
He said, on that fateful day, the complaints were on their way to hospital with his sick mother when they stopped him and demanded for vehicle particulars which he begged them to allow him to take his sick mother to hospital, which they declined and went ahead to write a fine against him, there and then, he told them only Court of law has the right to slam a fine on anyone found guilty and for that he will not pay the fine.
The KASTELEA personnel went ahead and removed his number plates when they discovered that he knew what he was doing at the end, he could implicate them, they turned to his wife, claiming she was video recording them which they tried to collect the phone from her but the husband collected the phone from her.
Dr. Bala further said, the KASTLEA personnel turned to the husband who happens to be their member, and overpowered him and collected the phone while in the process he sustained an injury and the phone felled on the ground and got damaged.
The team of lawyers that backed the complaints Counsel were Nuradden Hassan, Haliru Salim, Abdulmumini Ishaq, Khalid Kabir, Kabir Hashim and Suwaiba A.D.Yusuf.
