NAF attacks another terrorists enclave in Niger State
Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighters attacked another terrorist enclave in Kurebe, in the Shiroro local government area of Niger State neutralizing many criminals.
This was disclosed by NAF Director of Public Affairs and Information, Air Force Chief Edward Gabkwet, Sunday in a statement saying the terrorists gathered in Kurebe for an important meeting organized by Aminu Dunia, the commander of Boko Haram
Gabkwet said the Kurebe attack came just hours after coordinated joint air and ground operations neutralized some terrorists operating around Galbi Dam in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
An NAF spokesman said: “Over the weekend, NAF aircraft attacked a terrorist gathering in Kurebe in the Shiroro Regional Government Area in Niger State after intelligence revealed that the terrorists had gathered for an ‘important meeting convened by Aminu Duniya, a Boko Haram terrorist commander.”
Aminu Duniya allegedly invited the terrorists in his pocket to Kurebe for a meeting, which turned out to attract many terrorists who came in large numbers on motorbikes.
“The airstrike was successful and several terrorists were killed,” sources said, though it was not clear whether Aminu Duniya was also neutralized during the strike. “It should be noted that Kurebe is a known hideout for terrorists, as local Kurebe residents vacated villages in and around the area after the terrorists evicted them in 2021.”
The statement further revealed that “the attack in Kurebe took place just hours after a coordinated joint air and ground operation which resulted in the neutralization of several terrorists operating around the Damba-Galbi axis in the Local Government Area of Chikun, Kaduna State.” “The activities of terrorists continued to make life unbearable for the local population in the area,” said Gibkwet. So when intelligence revealed that terrorists were planning to raid a nearby village in the area, the army saw an opportunity to surprise them.
“When NA forces besieged the place, the NAF planes were heading to the location of the suspects already attacked.” “After the attack, it was confirmed that several terrorists were killed.”
