Bandits attack mosque, kill seven in Kaduna

Bandits’ attack on a mosque during a prayer session has left seven persons dead in Saya-Saya village of Ikara Local Government Area in Kaduna State.

The incident claimed the lives of five innocent victims within the mosque including the head of the vigilantes, while two were tragically killed in separate locations nearby.

The village Head of the community, Malam Abdulrahman Yusuf expressed sorrow over the incident and confirmed that the head of the local vigilante group was among those brutally killed inside the mosque.

Yusuf stated, “We suspect they targeted him in the mosque to carry out the attack. We were praying inside when they arrived and started shooting. Five people lost their lives in the mosque, while another victim, who was a driver delivering food items to the village, was also slain. The final victim was killed in a neighboring village.”

Security forces, including soldiers and police officers from Ikara town and the Falgore area, arrived on the scene at approximately 12:30 a.m., but unfortunately, the assailants had already fled.

The Acting Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Mansir Alhassan,  was said to confirmed the incident and assured the public that security personnel had been deployed to nearby areas to apprehend the perpetrators.

Alhassan emphasized the importance of reporting any unusual or suspicious activity to the relevant authorities promptly.
