The Kwankwasiyya movement in Kano seems to be jittery as the Kano Gubernatorial Elections Tribunal moves to announce its judgement in the Petition of the All Progressives Congress against the NNPP elected Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The supporters of Kwankwasiyya led by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was reported to have gone  has gone spiritual, conducting special prayers seeking God’s intervention against seizing their mandates.

The Special prayers were conducted at Filin Mahaha and had Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the National Leader of NNPP, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam, State Secretary to the Government, Dr Baffa Bichi, and other top ranking officers of the Government in attendence.

The special prayers was lead by Imam Sani Hashir, who said, “We prayed here today to express our thanks to Allah for granting us victory in the 2023 general elections and for keeping our communities safe, for keeping our state secured and for keeping our country safe.”

“In Kano State today, we are blessed with leaders that have started changing the landscape of the state with Pipe borne water starting gushing in all parts of the state, Street lights have been restored and Hospitals are being renovated and equipped.

”He noted that Kano State is paying the registration fees of over seven thousand indigent students of Bayero University while roads are being rehabilitated and refuse dumps are disappearing.

”However, despite all these efforts before the current government’s hundred days in office, enemies of the people are scheming and planning to undermine our leaders.”

Recall that the Kano State Police Command, on Monday, banned all forms of street protests across all parts of the state with immediate effect following an intelligence report on possible outrage from the judgment of the tribunal on the state election.
Addressing journalists in an emergency press conference at the state’s Police Command, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini, said, “Members of the public should therefore note that it has come to our knowledge that the two dominant parties; the New Nigeria People’s Party, and the All Progressives Congress have assembled a crowd to embark on a protest, without the endorsement of the Nigeria Labour Congress and prior approval from the security agencies in the state.”
“Both organizers, as well as the umbrella body should note that any attempt to disrespect NLC and the security agencies in the state, by playing around the fragile security situation, which the combined security agencies have been managing, is not only uncivil, criminal but also an offence against national security.”
“Checks have so far been conducted by this Police Command and it’s revealing that some members of both two political parties who are influencing the members of the civil society to embark on this decision is merely as a result of their apprehensions and to pre-empt the judgement of the election tribunal.”
“Finally, this Police Command is ever grateful for the enormous support and cooperation it has been enjoying from the good people of the state for the peace, security, stability and overall interest of all residents.”
