KTSG on aggressive onslaught against criminal gangs; approves N7.8bn for security

In what looks like a new approach to the fight against criminal gangs ravaging Katsina State in North West Nigeria, the Katsina State  Government has approved the sum of N7.8 billion to ensure the safety and  security of lives and properties of the people of Katsina State.

The money would be used for the procurement of modern security equipment to better equip security agencies operating in the state.

This was disclosed by the  Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasiru Mu’azu Danmusa after the state’s executive council meeting presided over by Governor Umaru Dikko Radda.

The Commissioner said about N4.8 billion will be used to purchase security vehicles for patrol operations noting that the sum of N2.6 billion has been earmarked for procuring hi-tech security equipment while N353,316,424.50 will be used to purchase some other security gadgets.

He said that government had earlier approved N640 million for the procurement of security equipment for the Community Security Watch Corps.
