Bread scarcity is imminent in Zamfara State as bakeries shut down over soaring prices of materials.
The Association of Bread Sellers, Zamfara State, has cried out that the hike in the price of flour and other ingredients necessary for production of bread has forced many confectionery houses to shut down in the State.

This was disclosed by the State chairman of the association, Alhaji Yusuf Usman, who doubles as the north west zonal secretary in an interview with newsmen in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, lamented that the prices of confectioneries have gone beyond their reach.
“We have no alternative than to reduce our quantity of production or go out of production as the prices of the commodities have continued to escalate since 2016”, he added.
He appealed to the Federal Government to intervene in order to keep them in business before the situation becomes completely unbearable
