As the rainy season is progressing, stakeholders in emergency management across Nigeria are continuously strategising to forestall and lessen the likely effects of flooding in their respective environments.
Its in this regard that the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency, KADSEMA, met with the National Inland Waterways Authority – NIWA and volunteer divers from its tactical team to strengthen their readiness.
Recall that both partners played significant roles in the success recorded by KADSEMA’s management of the 2022 flood, including the rescue of 8 out of the 9 passengers involved in Kabala canoe capsize.
Life saving jackets and rain boots were donated to the divers for use by canoe passengers and operators, courtesy NIWA and KADSEMA respectively.
The Executive Secretary Muhammed Mu’azu Mukaddas thanked the divers and NIWA for their continued selfless humanitarian services to the state.
