The Emir of Gwandu and Chairman of the Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashir, has extolled the leadership qualities of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as a leader who respects the rule of law and demonstrates commitment to the welfare and empowerment of Nigerians.

The Emir made this known on Monday while receiving the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council delegation at his palace in Birnin Kebbi. He commended the President’s leadership disposition and concern for human development, expressing prayers for divine guidance and support for him as he seeks re-election for a second term in 2027.

The royal father also prayed for the success of other APC candidates contesting various elective positions, asking Almighty Allah to guide the party and its candidates towards victory in the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking during the visit, Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, told the Emir that the delegation’s visit was primarily to seek his royal blessings, fatherly counsel and prayers as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Governor Idris expressed appreciation to the Emir for his consistent support, wise counsel and invaluable guidance to his administration, noting that the traditional institution remained an important partner in promoting peace, stability and good governance in the state.

Earlier, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, thanked the Emir for his continued fatherly guidance and constructive advice to APC-led governments, which he said had contributed to strengthening democratic governance and promoting peaceful political engagement.

Senator Yari described the Emir as a respected traditional ruler whose wisdom, experience and counsel command great respect across Nigeria. He said the delegation had come to seek the royal father’s blessings, prayers and advice as the campaign council prepares for the forthcoming elections.

“We are here to seek your fatherly blessings, prayers and counsel. You are a respected father and a revered traditional ruler whose wisdom and leadership are held in high esteem across the country. Your guidance is invaluable to the success of our democratic process,” he said.

On security, Senator Yari acknowledged the persistent insecurity confronting the country, describing it as a major challenge that successive administrations had grappled with. He maintained that the present administration was making efforts to tackle the problem through various security interventions aimed at restoring peace and protecting lives and property.

The APC Presidential Campaign Council Director-General further highlighted what he described as the Federal Government’s achievements in critical sectors, including infrastructure, security, agriculture and youth empowerment. He assured the Emir that the administration remained committed to addressing national challenges and improving the living conditions of Nigerians.

The visit underscored the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s engagement with traditional institutions and key stakeholders as part of efforts to strengthen political consultation, consolidate support and mobilise for the 2027 general elections.
