Hon. Igbu Job Terhemen, chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Fiidi Council Ward, Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State was found in an almost unconscious and was unable to speak or communicate before he eventually died, a statement signed by Agile Ordedoo Bem, Publicity Secretary of the NDC in Benue State, and dated September 30, 2026 has said.
Igbu was reportedly attacked by suspected hoodlums who allegedly tied him with ropes, injected him with substances suspected to be poisonous and abandoned him near his residence around the NNPC depot along the Makurdi-Otukpo Road.
Reacting to the incident, the state chairman of the NDC, Ohini Ojegbe, described the killing as a “broad-daylight evil” and called on security agencies to urgently investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
Ojegbe also urged the security agencies to arrest those responsible and ensure that they are brought to justice.
The party described Igbu as a committed and dedicated member whose contributions to the growth of the NDC would be greatly missed, particularly at a time when his service and commitment were needed.
“The Nigeria Democratic Congress, Benue State Chapter, extends its heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the Fiidi community, and the entire NDC family,” the statement said.
The party prayed that God would comfort the deceased’s family and grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
