The family of late Musa ‘Yar’adua has donated the school founded by the late Hajiya Dada to the Katsina State Zakat and Waqf Board as a _Waqf_.
The school, which provides both Islamic and Western education, was under the care of Senator Abdulaziz and Hajiya Hafsat after the passing of Hajiya Dada.
They have now decided to dedicate it as a _Waqf_ in honor of their parents, the late Alhaji Musa Yar’adua and the late Hajiya Dada, as well as their uncle.
Speaking on behalf of Senator Abdulaziz, Hajiya Hafsat said they handed over the school to the Board to ensure proper management and the sustainability of the charity purpose for which it was established. She added that renovation works have already commenced to improve the learning environment.
Receiving the _Waqf_, the Chairman of the Katsina State Zakat and Waqf Board, Dr. Ahmad Musa Abdullahi commended Senator Abdulaziz and Hajiya Hafsat for the significant act of charity. He described a school _Waqf_ as one of the greatest forms of ongoing charity in Islam, as its benefits continue to reach the community while the reward for the founders also continues.
“A school _Waqf_ combines education with charity. It ensures students receive both religious and modern education, along with good morals and upbringing. Anyone who contributes to educating a student shares in the reward of that knowledge in this life and the hereafter,” Dr. Ahmad stated.
He assured that the Board will manage the school and its assets in accordance with _Waqf_ principles and will work closely with the family to achieve the purpose for which it was dedicated.
The Board’s Secretary, Dr. Abubakar Yusuf also emphasized the importance of the donation, noting that the Board has special plans for managing _Waqf_ properties to ensure their longevity.
He said the Board will collaborate with the Yar’adua family to ensure the school receives the necessary care and that the objectives of the _Waqf_ are fully realized.
The event concluded with special prayers for the family and for the acceptance of this charitable act.
