A notorious bandits leader, Kachalla Sani Yellow terrorising Anka–Bagega–Gummi axis in Zamfara State has been gunmen down in an operations by security personnel, working alongside local vigilante groups.
Reports indicate that Yellow was believed to have coordinated several attacks on the busy route, where travellers and residents have long faced the threat of bandit violence.
He was reportedly killed during an armed confrontation involving the Maiduguri Special Vigilantes, who were supporting security forces in ongoing counter-banditry operations across the area.
Following the operation, Yellow’s body was displayed to residents in Anka as confirmation of his death, a development many hope will restore confidence among communities affected by years of insecurity.
Residents are optimistic that the latest breakthrough will help reduce attacks, improve safety on major roads and allow communities to resume their daily activities with greater confidence, even as security operations continue across Zamfara State.
