Journalism vital to good governance – Gov Radda

“Journalism is vital to good governance. Journalists serve as the bridge between government and the people.”

This was the observation of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State in a congratulatory message to the new Executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Katsina State Council.

“We value your role and will continue to support your professional development,” the Governor stressed reaffirming the state government’s commitment to supporting the work of journalists and media professional.

The Governor also expressed appreciation for the outgoing executive led by Tukur DanAli, who serves as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Culture.

Aminu Garba Dandagoro of Katsina State Television was sworn in as Chairman of the council. Auwal Halliru of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Katsina assumed office as Vice Chairman.

The inauguration ceremony brought together journalists and media professionals from across the state to witness the change of leadership.

The newly sworn-in Executive Members include Abbas Bamalli, Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina, who takes the position of Secretary.

Yunusa Umar from Companion FM was sworn in as Assistant Secretary. Shehu Abubakar from Katsina State Radio became the council’s Treasurer.

Hamidu Sabo from Blueprint Newspaper was inaugurated as Financial Secretary, while Yasir Abubakar from Katsina State Television assumed the role of Internal Auditor.

 Governor Radda acknowledged the diverse media representation in the new leadership, drawing from television, radio, newspaper, and news agency organizations.

“The new executive brings together talented journalists from different media platforms. This diversity strengthens the union and ensures representative leadership,” the Governor stated.

The Governor commended the outgoing executive for their dedication and service to the union and the journalism profession in Katsina State.

“Under the leadership of Tukur DanAli and his team, the NUJ Katsina Council made significant progress. Their commitment to professional journalism and union development is worthy of commendation,” Governor Radda said.
