The Kaduna State Governor, SenbUba Sani has reiterated his government commitment to implement effectiveness in the social protection policy and programme that would improve the lives of the people especially the most vulnerables in the state.
Uba Sani made the pledged through the state deputy governor Dr Hadiza Balarabe Sabawa, during the opening ceremony of a two days stakeholders orientation lrogramme on social protection organized by ministry of humanitarian affairs.
The two days stakeholders orientation programme with theme “Enhancing social protection systems through multi sectoral approach” held in Kaduna recently.
According to the governor the importance of social protection programe cannot be overemphsised especially in a state like ours where poverty, inequality and social issues linder, stressing that it’s an essential tool in social promotion, reducing poverty level, addressing inequality and provide a safety for vulnerable individuals and households, ensuring access to basic needs and goods healthcare and the social services.
Social protection is not abstracts to the state government “it’s moral obligation, political responsibility for effective governance.
He however commended the office of special adviser on social investment programmes for convening this great stakeholders summit.
In her addressed the special adviser social investment programmes, Mrs Bridget Suleiman explained that the essences of organizing the orientation was to align and understand in order to builds a robust social protection in Kaduna State.
She however commended the governor for allocating over N61 bilkion to support social protection pogrammes across some ministries. Ministry for agriculture had benefited the high amount allocated in carrying out various initiatives mainly on social protection.
Bridget further hailed the partners for their efforts towards ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the orientation. The partners include UNICEF, Ministries of agriculture, humanitarian affairs, budget and planning, Education among others.
Also speaking with newsmen the founder and chairman Zakaat and Waqf Foundation, Kaduna state Mallam Abdullahi Salisu Haladu, explained that the foundation has slaughtered 50 cows and distributed it during sallah celebration.
He noted that N80 millions naira realised from Zakat collection was distributed to over 500 beneficiaries.
He therefore called on the wealthy peoples and other stakeholders to partner with the foundation in providing a better humanitarian services towards reducing poverty, inequality to poor and vulnerables people in the society.
