Tbe Katsina State Department of Local Government Inspectorate has threatened contractors handling the construction of Agricultural Mechanisation Center,AMC in Baure LGA giving them three-day ultimatum to either start work or the contract be revoked.
Special Adviser L G Inspectorate Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana gave the directives when he visited the area on an inspection tour to five LGAs in Daura Emirate.
The Special Adviser was in Daura Emirate to inspect the level of work for the setting up of AMCs in the remaining LGAs of Daura Senatorial District.
Ar Zango LGA, the Special Adviser was worried with what he has seen, as the work done violated all aspects of the Bill of Quantity of the contract.
He described the work done as it looks like an ordinary parking lots, and directed the Director Works of the LGA and respective Inspectors to ensure that the contractor do the needful by complying with the Bill of Quantity of the contract awarded to him.
At Sandamu, Mai’adua and Daura local government areas, Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana expressed concern over the poor performance of Contractors handling the job thereby gave two weeks period to ensure completion of the project and must be done in accordance to the Bill of Quantity provided.
He registered his annoyance over the negligence of Contractors handling the projects particularly on the Zonal and Resident Inspectors mandated to monitor and make possible corrections as well as providing periodic reports to the Department.
The Special Adviser therefore charged the Resident Inspectors and Directors of Works of the five respective LGAs to liarse with each other and come up with daily progress reports on the project as according to him, he will revisit the site bys within the two weeks period to ascertain the level of compliance and progress achieved.
Earlier, the Special Adviser revisited the site for AMC at Batagarawa Local Government Secretariat to assess the level of compliance and progress so far achieved, where he was satisfied, but made some corrections and tasked the Resident Inspector to ensure providing progress report from time to time.u
