While the decamping wind to the All Progressives Congress, APC  is blowing accross Nigeria, especially with the Felta Defection, the Abia State governorbAlex Otti has debunked speculations that he is planning to leave the Labour Party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reacting to the rumour Otto described the reports as false, baseless and unfounded.

A statement issued by his special adviser on media and publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor said his meeting with Hope Uzodimma of Imo state at the National Economic Council meeting at the Presidential Villa which fueled the rumour was misrepresented.

“After the National Economic Council meeting on Thursday, April 24, Governor Otti and a few of his colleagues joined Governor Uzodinma to attend the birthday celebration of his twin daughters, an event that had nothing to do with politics,” Ekeoma said.

According to Ekeoma, the rising profile and performance exhibited by the governor could be responsible for the speculation of a possible defection to APC.

He also said that Otti believes that focuses on the intricacies of the 2027 politics and election is premature as attention should rather be placed on governance and delivering his promises to the people of Abia State.

“We wish to emphatically state that Governor Otti remains a member of the Labour Party and is presently not planning or discussing with anyone to defect to the APC or any other party,” he said.
