As politicians and political parties strategies and strategies against the 2027 campaigns and elections, the All Progressives Congress, APC seems to have taken over Delta State of the South South geopolitical zone of Nigeria
Reports of the Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as well as major stakeholders in the state, including former Governor of Delta State and Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ifeanyi Okowa, have defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Thie defection if the governor and other political critical stakeholders was disclosed on Wednesday shortly after a meeting at the Delta State Government House, Asaba.
Okowa, before the announcement, said in his dialect, while addressing the people, that he would take the best decision.
“Be assured that we will not go in the wrong direction. We will take the best direction, the best path for our people,” Okowa said
The development followed a closed-door meeting at the Government House in Asaba, the state capital on Wednesday.
The defection was confirmed by Sir Festus Ahon the Chief Press Secretary, to Delta State Governor
Reports say, Ahon revealed that the governor’s decision emerged from “wide consultations with political stakeholders and in the interest of Delta’s long-term development.”
A press briefing led by Sen. Ebiowou Manager and Delta Commissioner of Information, Aniagwu Charles confirmed the development.
Charles said the move is necessary to “cement the development in our state, to build the bond of love that has existed in our state, to further advance the course of security and welfare of our people, and to a very large extent, ensure that development in Delta because every politician is local, is not truncated.
“And in taking that decision, we came to the inevitable conclusion that moving out of the PDP is very, very necessary for us to be able to collaborate with our kiths and kins and build that state that every Deltan can be proud of. We believe that what is happening at the state of the PDP is akin to that palm wine whose states have changed and there was a need for us to change the drinking pattern. And that is why this decision has been taken unanimously by leaders and stakeholders of the party.
“And by the grace of God, on Monday next week, we will be able to make a very big statement as to the fact that we are moving into the APC
