The Nigerian Youth Alliance Against Corruption ( NYAAC) has opposed the proposed tax reform bill 2024.

Zonal Vice Chairman of NYAAC,  Alhaji Nasiru Turakin Masama rejected the move to pass the bill into law by the national assembly members in a statement issued to newsmeny n Birnin Kebbi

.

According to the statement,  the tax bill  will also adversely affect governments other than the federal government,  especially state government causing more burden on the already- suffering masses who are the end -users  and consumers of all manufactured items in the country.

Therefore this bill is against our interest and other sub-nationals,  especially the proposed amendment to the distribution of Value Added Tax (Tax) to derivation-based model this is due to companies remit VAT using location of their headquarters and tax office and not where the services and goods are consumed.” The statement said.

It added that ” The Nigerian Youth Alliance Against Corruption has totally rejected the passing of the bill by the members of the National assembly because ot it (the bill) intent to increase the prices of commodities and other properties in Nigeria thereby increasing the hardship to the common man.”

Masama called on senators and house of representative members to reject the tax reform bill for the sake of well-being of Nigerian masses.
