In preparation for the local government councils election scheduled for February 2025, the Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (KTSIEC) will commence the screening of candidates on 20th November 2024
This was disclosed by Adamu Ladan, a commissioner in a statement made available to newsmen in Katsina on Friday, saying this screening exercise followed the expiration of the time allotted for the sales of Nomination Forms 006, 006A, and 007 by KTSIEC, which was concluded on the 14th November 2024.
The statement added that, screening will take place between 20th and 27th November 2024. Candidates vying for the positions of Chairman and Vice Chairman are to be screened at the Commission’s Headquarters, while the screening for Councillorship candidates will be conducted at the respective Local Government Secretariats across the state.
KTSIEC urges all political parties that purchased nomination forms and their candidates to make the necessary preparations for the screening and clearance processes as outlined in the approved election timetable.
The Commission reiterated that there will be no further extensions. Only candidates who have been sponsored by their political parties and have completed the nomination process will be permitted to participate in the screening exercise.
