The Katsina State Police Command has urged  for a review and re-strategize security measures in light of the rising cases of vandalism and theft during the current power outage, particularly as we are deep into the ember months.

The charge was given by Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, psc+, during a meeting with all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and senior officers.

A statement signed and issued by ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu anipr, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Katsina State Police Command said the meeting aimed to review existing security arrangements on the security of life and property, especially electrical installations, during this period.

The CP charged DPOs on: Enhanced surveillance, intelligence gathering, and prompt response to distress calls to prevent sabotage and vandalism of electrical installations; Collaboration with an electricity distribution company to identify and secure critical electrical installations across the state.

He declared that, as we are deep into the ember months, we must be proactive in safeguarding lives and property. He further charged DPOs to work closely with local communities, vigilance groups, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure effective security measures are in place.

The CP noted that the ember months (September to December) are traditionally associated with increased crime rates. He assured the public of the command’s proactive measures to tackle any potential security threats, as he urges residents to report any suspicious activities or security concerns to the nearest police station or through the following emergency numbers:
