New police commissioner assumes duty in Kaduna

The new Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah has officially dury following the retirement of his predecessor, CP Audu Ali Dabigi, who bowed out of service on October 1, 2024after puttingl  over three decades of servi.

Gyogon hails from Nasarawa State, and holds a degree in Chemistry from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA
). He joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet ASP in 1992 and has held various roles across the country, including in Katsina, Enugu, Ekiti, and Cross River States.

In his inaugural remarks, Grimah assured residents of Kaduna State that he would deploy his extensive experience in policing operations, investigations, and administration to tackle the state’s security challenges. He emphasized that the Command’s priority would remain maintaining law and order while ensuring professionalism among officers.

“The security concerns in Kaduna are well-known, but with the collective efforts of all stakeholders, we can subdue the threats,” he said. He urged officers to stay committed to their responsibilities, assuring that his administration would prioritize effective policing and collaboration with communities.

Grimah also called on the public to support the police in their efforts to rid the state of criminal activities, adding that his leadership would be open to engagement and dialogue with all concerned parties to ensure safety and security
