KTSG appreciates UNICEF on education

The Katsina State Government has acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of United Nations Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF) intervention on the Education Sector in the State.

The Assistant Director Statistics of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education,Alhaji Idris Usman made the disclosure while inaugurating a Community schools Transition Monitors in Baure Local Government Area of the State

The UNICEF in collaboration with the Ministry and SUBEB set up the committee in the Focus  Reach Local Government Areas in the State

Alhaji Idris Usman while inaugurating the Committee stated that Education is the responsibilities of All hence the collaboration with key stakeholders to enhance the development of Education in the State.

He revealed some of the Rerms of References of the committee which include identifying the barriers hindering the smooth transition from one level of Education to another, conduct sensitisation campaigns to create awareness on the need for continuous schooling of students especially girls.

In a welcome remarks by the Education Secretary of Baure Local Government Education Authority Alhaji Imrana Isah thanked UNICEF in collaboration with the Ministry and SUBEB for coming up with this initiative.

He assured the stakeholders chosen as members of the committee would do their best to ensure the success of the programme.

Earlier, the Lead Facilitator of the programme and UNICEF Consultant, Dr Hafsat Yahaya Yakasai explained that the programme was organised in order to facilitate smooth transition from primary to secondary schools and up to tertiary levels in addition to recognising and addressing obstacles hindering schools transition of students and how best to ensure transition of students to different levels of Education.

The composition of the committee members comprises of  Education Secretaries ,SBMCs,Traditional and Religious Leaders,Mothers Associations among others
