Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris has distributed 40 new transformers to various communities throughout the state to enhance electricity supply.
At the distribution ceremony held yesterday at Rural Electricity Board (REB) premises in Birnin Kebbi, Gov Idris said the distribution of the transformers was in cognizance of meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state in enjoying regular power supply.
He added that government must meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people in every aspect of life which is part of the present administration’s agenda .
The governor tasked all the beneficiaries not to allow anybody to temper with the transformers after installation and guard against the theft of armoured cables.
Earlier, the Special Adviser on Power and Political Affairs, Hon Kabiru Sani Giant, revealed that the 40 units transformers were purchased at the cost of about N396 million while the accessories were acquired at N120 million.
He also said the transformers will be distributed to the twenty one local government areas of Kebbi State.
