Governor Radda of Katsina State has reiterated his commitment to revolutionizing the healthcare landscape in Katsina State
He unveiled the positive impact of his one year-effort to in improving healthcare in the state through the creation of situations that make every citizen access ife-saving interventions and high-quality medical care.
It said the key priority of Gov Radda’s administration is addressing critical challenges facing the healthcare sector, starting with the shortage of healthcare personnel. A comprehensive baseline study revealed the need for a significant increase in medical professionals in the state.
To address this, the administration sponsored forty-one medical students to study MBBS and recruited an additional ninety-four health personnel for secondary health facilities. Furthermore, entry points for medical doctors were upgraded, and residency allowances were reviewed upwards to attract and retain top talent.
Recognizing the importance of diagnostics in healthcare delivery, Governor Radda discloses ongoing efforts to establish a state-of-the-art diagnostic center in Katsina. In addition, the administration has invested in upgrading existing healthcare facilities, including the construction of a 12-bed kidney center and the transformation of Faskari Comprehensive Health Centre into a General Hospital. These investments total over 1.28 billion Naira, distributed amongst various facilities for renovations and equipment.
Furthermore, the Radda led administration has successfully engaged with organizations such as UNICEF and UNDP to address nutrition and immunization challenges, providing counterpart funding and purchasing motorcycles to enhance outreach efforts.
Additionally, partnerships with organizations like World Medical Relief have resulted in donations of medical equipment worth over 10 billion Naira, further strengthening the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
In the ongoing fight against polio, Governor Radda’s administration has reached over 2 million children with vaccination efforts, demonstrating a commitment to safeguarding the health of the state’s youngest citizens.
Moreover, efforts to improve childcare services have been bolstered through training programs aimed at enhancing the capacity of healthcare personnel and community health influencers.
