Challenges before Zuru Emirate

The most worrisome challenges confronting the people of Zuru Emirate include Koko-Zuru road reconstruction project, unemployment among the youths, inadequate support for the farming communities and support for the promotion of culture and tourism business believed to have potentials for employment creation and revenue generation.

The observation was made by the Emir of Zuru, Major-General Muhammadu Sani Sami Gomo ll, while addressing his subjects at his Palace,  shortly after the eid Eil Fitri prayers led by the Zuru Emirate Chief Imam, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammadu Tanko.

But the emir declared that he was optimistic and confident that with absolute loyalty and genuine support, Governor Nasir Idris will fulfil his campaign promises to the people of the emirate.

The event was witness by Senior Emirate Council members, traditional title holders, Chiefdoms, District heads, Political office holders, religious leaders, members of the business community and thousands of people.

General Sami told his subjects that his conviction that the Governor means well for the people was based on his personal discussion and several interactions with the Governor on the numerous socioeconomic challenges of the emirate and his repeated assurances of his desire to confront them Head-on.

The Emir cited the success achieved in checking the activities of armed bandits in the emirate which he added, had comparatively revived socioeconomic activities in the emirate.

He appealed to the people to be patient with the state government, stressed that with sincerity of purpose and support to the Governor, particularly the elected and appointed political office holders in the emirate so that the emirate will maximally benefit from the government’s developmental programmes and projects.

General Sami Gomo expressed appreciation for the large turn out of prominent people of the emirate for the celebration of the eid Eil Fitri at home and appealed to them to maintain the exemplary conduct particularly during eid Eil Fitri, eid Eil kabir, Christmas and the annual Uhola Cultural Festival.

Speaking on behalf of the major stakeholders of the emirate, the Turakin Zuru Alhaji Zubairu Abdullahi Turaki thanked the Emir for providing the opportunity to them to interact with a view to promoting and defending the overall interest of the emirate and assured of their full support to the governor towards fulfilling his electioneering campaign promises to the people of the emirate.

With expected determination and commitment of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly,  the State Chairman of the ruling party,  the Head of the State Civil Service, four Commissioners, six permanent Secretaries and a number of Special Advisers from the emirate, the expectations of the Emir can be justified.
