EFCC recovers N60.9bn, secures 747 convictions

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered over N60.9 billion worth of corruption proceeds from suspects across the country in the last 100 days.

The recoveries were in stolen assets and they were achieved between October, 2023 and January 19, 2024.

This was contained  a “100 Days in Office” of the EFCC chairman, Mr

Ola Olukoyede.

The recoveries were in stolen assets and they were achieved between October, 2023 and January 19, 2024. “in the period under review, 747 convictions were secured across the 14 Zonal Commands of the Commission.
“Notably, the Lagos Zonal Command took the lead with 218 convictions, closely followed by the Ibadan Zonal Command with 121.
“Also, within the period, N60.9 billion, $10.5 million, E150,002.10 and 4,119.90 were recovered,” the publication revealed.
Similarly, the anti graft agency is currently investigating high profile individual cases under the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, which involves: Sadiya Umar-Farouq, for contract and procurement fraud (N37 billion), Halima Shehu, (N44.8 billion), Betta Edu, (N17 billion), as well as former CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, (N1.9 billion and $ 6.2 million), among others
