Katsina offers N180 million subsidy to commuters monthly

By Mohammad Lawal Maikudihe Government of Katsina State offers a subsidy of about N180 million monthly to commuters through the services of Katsina State Transport Authority, KTSTA.

This was disclosed by the KTSTA General Manager, Alhaji Haruna Musa Rugoji in an exclusive interview with Kunnengari online recently.
He said this was more than the 20 per cent of what other transport operators charge passengers as is required of the KTSTA, and despite the challenges of fuel price increase as well as high cost of spareparts and maintenance of vehicles and the insecurity situation in the country.
The assessment of the subsidy was conducted by an independent observer who committed himself to observing the influx of commuters to and from various destinations via the KTSTA services and realised that the KTSTA offers about N6 million subsidy daily to commuters.
Alhaji Haruna expressed satisfaction with the efforts of Governor Dikko Radda in having confidence in the KTSTA to participate actively in delivering on his promises of making Katsina State better through service delivery.
He commended Governor Dikko for boosting KTSTA fleet with 40 brand new busses and the support it requires to function to the satisfaction of commuters in the state, saying his team will work harder to ensure they buy four additional vehicles every quarter of 2024 and two vehicles every month of 2025.
He said his vision is to see KTSTA passengers travelling in new vehicles comfortably without feeling of any disappointment

Commenting on the new park the KTSTA is constructing at Dandagoro  Alhaji Haruna said it is planned to provide all a commuter needs to enjoy his journey and make work easier for its workers.
He said the park is planned to accommodate tall operations of the KTSTA which includes administration, operations. workshop etc.
There will also be a befitting restaurant, a hotel lodge, fuel station, fire service station, a police outpost and all that is required to provide safety and comfort for commuters
Alhaji Haruna said he and his management team and all KTSA staff remain grateful to Governor Dikko Radda for his support and encouragement to them. He also doff his cap for the commuters who patronise KTSTA services,  resident of Katsina State for their support to the government and the KYSTA in delivering on its campaign promises.
