KATSINA LGAs: First Phase Projects Successfully Executed. – Commissioner_

Multiple projects have been successfully executed by the Chairmen of the 34 local government Councils in Katsina State at the cost of N1.8M in the first trenche projects approved by the state Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prof Badamasi Lawal  disclosed this to newsmen in his office at the annual press briefing initiated by his Ministry in Katsina, Wednesday

The Commissioner explained that the first trenche projects were proposed by the 34 local councils, vetted by the Ministry and sought the approval which was granted by the State Government.

Prof Badamasi Lawal said the responsibility of the Ministry was to monitor, assess and inspect the nature and level of the projects, had played its role to that effect and was satisfied with the work so far done by the local councils.

The Commissioner said the nature of the projects ranges from construction of rural feeder roads, drainages, additional classrooms for primary and Islamiyya Schools and furniture were purchased to such structures.

Other projects embarked upon according to the Commissioner include provision of transformers, solar powered street lights, boreholes and electrification for various communities, and in some places, Divisional Police Offices were constructed or renovated among others.

He further noticed that number of clinics, dispensaries and to some extent Primary Healthcare Centres were also constructed and according to him, all projects already mentioned were executed in the first trenche of N1.8billion released to the Local Councils.

He however stated that in the first instance, 50% of the funds were released and subsequently the remaining 50% was finally released for the completion of the projects in the 1st Trenche.
