FUDMA introduces Bsc Mass Com, Health Sciences, other courses

The Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA), in Katsina State, said it has introduced new undergraduate programs, including Bsc in Mass Communications and Health Science, among others.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu-Bichi, revealed this while briefing newsmen in Dutsinma as part of preparations for their 7th and 8th combined convocation ceremony scheduled for Saturday.

According to him, other courses introduced include LL.B Law; B.Eng. Mechatronics Engineering; B.Sc International Relations and Diplomacy and also B.URP Urban and Regional Planning.

Others are B.Sc Applied Geophysics, B.Tech. Entrepreneurship as well as  B. Tech. Textile Design Technology amongst others.

The vice-chancellor said that candidates interested in studying the courses were now free to apply through the joint Admission and Matriculation Examination.

He said when he assumed duty as the V-C, there were only three Faculties, with 20 programs, while out of them, only three had accreditation.

He added that now, the university has 13 faculties, with more than 100 accredited programs, saying “it’s a great achievement in three years.”

According to Hamisu-Bichi, within the period he has been the vice- chancellor, a lot of structures were built, especially the Faculties of Medicine, Engineering, Law, and Natural Resources.

“We are now in the process of constructing a Faculty of Education, Faculty of Arts and also that of Environment.

“And for the first time in the history of the university, we used internal revenue to build three female hostels,” he added.

Hamisu-Bichi also disclosed that in spite of the successes recorded during his leadership, there were still some challenges, especially the lack of funds.

He also lamented that insecurity in the area was part of the challenges he has been facing, saying, ”we are doing everything possible to ensure a safer environment.”
