The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in collaboration with the Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board and International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) has conducted a Learning Assessment Test in Katsina State
This was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations officer of the Board, Alhaji Aminu Badaru Jikamshi and made available to Newsmen in Katsina.
The statement quoted the State Coordinator UBEC, Alhaji Aliyu Jibrin Mohammed as saying “the Assessment test was aimed at assessing the Learners performance in the area of Literacy and Numeracy in the Basic Education Sector in the State”
The UBEC Coordinator further stated that the examination was conducted successfully without any hitch and under strict supervision in all the centres in the State
Alhaji Aliyu Jibrin then commended Governor Mallam Dikko Umar Radda PhD for his strong commitment in boosting the education sector in Katsina State
He then appealed to the Katsina State Government to continue to put in more resources in the area of basic education in the state so as to achieve the desired goals of UBE
Earlier, the Director Quality Assurance of the Board, Alhaji Muhammad Lawal Kankia stated that Universal Basic Education Commission is conducting this test in the 35 states and FCT.
He then said that 688 class 6 pupils sat for the exams in 7 selected schools in 4 Local Government Education Authorities namely Katsina, Batagarawa, Rimi and Kankia
