Kaduna Govt Ends Oppressive Practices

The Kaduna State Government has announced a decisive end to the era of arbitrary demolitions, mass sackings, and policies that instilled fear in citizens, signaling a bold new direction built on peace, unity, and people-centered governance.

The declaration was made by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, during strategic engagement visits to Vision FM and Maria FM radio stations in Kaduna. He emphasized that under Governor Uba Sani, Kaduna is turning the page on past governance approaches that created anxiety and hardship for residents.

“The era of demolishing houses, arbitrary sacking of workers, and intimidating our people is over,” Maiyaki said.

“Governor Uba Sani is charting a new path—one rooted in peace, development, and respect for the people.”

Maiyaki called on media organizations to deepen their partnership with the government by seeking timely clarifications on public issues and helping prevent misinformation. He stressed that this commitment to transparency motivated Governor Uba Sani to reestablish the Ministry of Information, which the previous administration had scrapped for about a decade.

Central to the new policy direction is the Kaduna Peace Model, a structured peace and security framework that has restored calm to areas once ravaged by banditry and kidnapping, especially Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Kajuru, Kauru, Kachia and Giwa local government areas.

“The Kaduna Peace Model is delivering real results. We need the media to help amplify this success and sustain the gains,” he noted.

During the visit to Vision FM, the Head of Administration, Malam Abdulhamid Idris, welcomed the engagement and assured Maiyaki of the station’s willingness to collaborate closely with the government to serve the interests of the people.

At Maria FM, a non-commercial faith-based station, Maiyaki highlighted that inclusive communication is essential for collective peacebuilding. The station’s Director, Rev. Fr. Joseph Gwandu, appreciated the commissioner’s visit and pledged that Maria FM would continue to promote peace-driven messaging for the benefit of the state.

Maiyaki repeatedly underscored during earlier visits to NTA Kaduna, FRCN Kaduna, Nagarta Radio, Liberty FM, DITV Kaduna, Hyai FM, Freedom FM, and Hamada FM that the Kaduna State Government—under the leadership of Senator Uba Sani—remains open, responsive, and accessible to the public, and is committed to transparency as it works to build a safer, more stable, and united Kaduna State.
