The Ministry of Interior has announced that by December 1, 2025, the era of physical letters and manual submissions will officially end within the ministry’s operations.
The policy shift is set to redefine administrative engagement in Nigeria as every form of correspondence requests, approvals, memos, and official documents must now pass through digital channels only.
The directive, signed by Permanent Secretary Dr. Magdalene Ajani, marks one of the most assertive steps yet in the Federal Government’s digital transformation drive under the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 2025).
It follows a formal instruction from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation mandating MDAs to adopt full electronic communication and records management.
Instead, all stakeholders including MDAs, private organisations, development partners, and the general public must route their communication through the ministry’s approved platforms: Ministry of Interior Website Submission Portal: interior.gov.ng (backend access after registration)
The Ministry says the move is designed to deepen transparency, speed up response times, and strengthen accountability in public service delivery.
By ditching the paper trail, the Interior Ministry aims to eliminate bureaucratic gridlocks that have long slowed administrative processes across Nigeria.
Officials emphasize that the shift is not merely a technological upgrade but a fundamental restructuring of how government conducts business.
The digital-only policy is expected to enhance record reliability, reduce operational inefficiencies, and support the federal goal of building a modern, paperless civil service.
The Ministry is urging all stakeholders to comply fully to avoid disruptions or delays in processing requests after the policy takes effect
