Some Unit Heads of the Local Government Works Departments have been accused of negligence of duty.
The accusation was made by the Special Adviser of Local Government Inspectorate Department, Hon Lawal Rufa’i Safana following project inspection conducted in Faskari Local Government on Friday.
Other local government areas visited included Dandume and Sabuwa.
Hon. Safana pointed out that serious and courageous officer shows agility in ensuring quality project which tally with the Bill of Quantity provided, but according to him, the reverse is now the case.

He charged relevant officers to ensure prudence and trustworthy while conducting their respective assignments to earn people’s confidence.
In Faskari LGA, the S A inspected the construction of drainages at Mairuwa, Kanon Haki, Sheme, Yankara and Maigora, but disapproved that of Kanon Haki and Maigora following the anomalies discovered.
Sequel to this, the Special Adviser directed the Zonal Inspector to ensure the anomalies are corrected within seven days and provide comprehensive report accompanying it with pictures to the Inspectorate.

In Dandume LGA, the construction of drainages at Nasarawar Dandume, Abasawa and Layin Kawari some lapses were specifically traced on the construction work of the drainages so far inspected in Dandume LGA, and the Zonal Inspector was directed to provide report on the redress made.
While in Sabuwa, Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana was conducted round some projects by the local council Chairman Hon. Sagir Tanimu Sabuwa.
The projects inspected include renovation and upgrading of Gamji Primary Healthcare Centre, renovation of two blocks of two classrooms each for Maibakko GDJSS and ongoing completion work of Maibakko Juma’at Mosque which the community initiated.
Other projects are drainage at Mallamawa Quarters and the ongoing rehabilitation and renovation work of the local council’s Chamber and the Chairman’s Office.
While commenting on the projects inspected in the three local government areas, the Special Adviser described the projects as a good initiative and emphasised the need for complying with the B of Q in executing projects for the proper utilisation of the public funds.
Hon. Safana equally applauded the efforts of the Chairman of Sabuwa LGA Hon. Sagir Tanimu for executing projects that have direct bearings on the lives of the common man.
In an interview with the Chairman of Sabuwa LGA Hon. Sagir Tanimu, commended the State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda for initiating the establishment of Department of Local Government Inspectorate. This according to him, will safeguard policies and programmes at the local level and ensure transparency and accountability in local administration in the state.
