The people -centered reforms in kaduna state’s health Sector under the leadership of Governor of Kaduna State Senator Uba Sani has been commended by critical stakelders in thre health in the state.
This was revealled during a Joint press conference held in Kaduna.
The stakeholders include the National Medical Association of Resident Doctors(ARD) kaduna state Chapter, the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Medical Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Association of Medical Laboratory Sciencetists and Joint Health Sector Union, Kaduna state Chapters,
They appreciated the Governor for approving the implementation of 100% of the revised 2024 consolidated medical salary structure (CONMESS) with the approval of N518,628,393.68 monthly and #6,223,540,724.16 annually is an addition to the wage bill for health personnel of the state.
The Associations said this decisive ends over a decade of stagnation in medical workers remuneration and restores dignity to medical practice, strengthens retention, and decisively counters brain drain across the hospitals and health facilities.
The Associations also welcome the Governor’s directive mandating local government councils to commence payment of 60% share of CONHESS 2024 for staff under primary healthcare board, ensuring fairness and equity across all levels.
The Joint Associations also commended the Uba Sani administration for the approval of automatic employment of the 2025 graduating medical students of Kaduna State University (KASU) as house officers at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital (BDTH) a vital measure to secure continuity of care providers career pathways for young doctors and stabilize service delivery.

They applaud the re-establishment of the bond system for state sponsored medical students and resident doctors requiring a minimum of three years service post graduation or post-residency, this guarantees the public investment in medical education directly benefits the people of the state.
It is worthy of note with admiration to acknowledge the huge infrastructural development in the health sector under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani which include the completion of the 300 beds specialist hospital, the ongoing renovation of 15 General Hospitals, revitalization of over 200 primary healthcare centers to level 2 PHC’s, construction of 3 oxygen plants one in each senatorial zone and establishment of three special baby care unit in each senatorial zone and the upgrade of state of the art medical warehouse in Kakuri Kaduna among others.
The Associations said these reforms reflect consistency and a clear commitment to health as an investment in human capital not a cost centre, which they said the state has set standard worthy of emulation across the federation.
