Katsina State Government has been called upon to institutionalize continuous training and refresher programmes for local government officers .
This was contained in a Communique issued shortly after the closing of a three weeks Katsina State Local Government Staff Training conducted at Tahir Guest Palace in Kano.

The training Programme which was sponsored by Katsina State Government and facilitated by Kitari Consult in collaboration with the State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has successfully equipped participants with enhanced knowledge, tools, and motivation to discharge their responsibilities with diligence and integrity.
The Communique was drafted and signed by its Chairman and Secretary Dr. Usman Alesh of Kitari Consult and Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana Special Adviser Department of Local Government Inspectorate respectively.
Participants of the Programme include local government Vice Chairmen, Councillors, and other key administrative staff.
The participants according to the Communique were provided with technical and administrative skills on governance, financial planning, budgeting, management and reporting, internal revenue generation, legislative processes, intergovernmental coordination and community security.

Nine key areas broadly discussed at the training include Alignment with the State’s Development Agenda, Community Development and Security, Improved Fiscal Management and Revenue Generation, Procurement and Compliance Practice and Institutional Relationship.
Other were Financial and Administrative Independence, Community Development Programme, Extending the training Workshop toeSe secretaries and Supervisory Councillors and Continuing Capacity Building as a Priority.
According to the Communique, the participants reaffirmed commitment to supporting the reform and transformation efforts of the state government at the local level.
