Nigeria retires 542 military personnel

The Nigerian military authorities have announced the retirement of 542 senior Non-Commissioned Officers. They were retired after putting 35 years of service.

The ceremony at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) in Oshodi, Lagos, involved 362 Army personnel, 134 from the Navy, and 46 from the Air Force.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Oluyede, represented by Maj. Gen. Aligbe Obhiozele, praised the retirees for their patriotism and urged them to maintain discipline and avoid post-service pitfalls.

NAFRC Commandant, Air Vice Marshal Bashir Mamman, noted the centre had trained over 53,000 personnel and thanked President Tinubu for recent infrastructure upgrades.

Retirees received certificates and starter packs after vocational training. Many expressed hope and readiness for life after service
