NOA charges Kebbi people to actively engage in democratic process

The people of Kebbi State have been charged to actively engage in the democratic process, particularly in governance.

The charge was given by Mallam Muhammed Nasir Karofi, the State Director of National Orientation Agency, NOA Kebbi State, when he led a delegation to Gawasu Community to Commemorate 2025 Democracy Day 2025 with Grassroots Outreach in Gawasu Community in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area The strategy facilitate direct dialogue with diverse stakeholders.
Karofi emphasizing that the strategic decision to move away from the city capital for this year’s commemoration of Democracy Day saying. “Our community outreach strategy is designed to afford a unique opportunity for robust dialogue with key stakeholders, including vibrant youth, dedicated women’s groups, and vital community-based organizations,”
He therefore appealed to the people of Kebbi State to understand that “governance is a serious business that is too important to ignore or to be left to a few.”
He further debunked the erroneous notion that politics is a dirty game, urging citizens to challenge this perception and actively contribute to shaping their collective future rather than leaving it to a select few who may end up deciding for the larger majority.
A statement signed and issued by Larai Saminu Nazo, Assistant Director and Public Relations Officer of of NOA Kebbi State said the outreach program featured a comprehensive presentation highlighting the achievements of the democratic government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the federal level, and Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, at the state level. These presentations underscored the tangible dividends of democracy witnessed across various sectors.

A key component of the outreach was an interactive dialogue session, providing a platform for the Gawasu community to offer valuable feedback to all levels of government regarding their expectations and aspirations.

Following the discussions, the NOA delegation embarked on a tour of newly constructed projects within the community, serving as concrete examples of the benefits of democratic governance. These projects included vital infrastructure such as roads, a hospital, schools, and boreholes, directly addressing critical community needs.

During the event, Karofi also took the opportunity to announce the ongoing National Debate Competition among tertiary institutions across the nation, organized by the National Headquarters of the Agency under the pragmatic leadership of the Director General Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu.  He strongly urged young students from tertiary institutions in Kebbi State to actively participate in this intellectual exercise, encouraging them to strive for the top state position, which would qualify them to compete at the zonal and national levels.

He reiterated unwavering commitment of Kebbi State NOA in discharging its functions diligently for the continued good of the state and the nation.
